PostPosted: Tue Nov 07, 2006 1:58 pm    Post subject: Cant get my vt1000 to work please help Reply with quote Back to top

I purchased a motorola vt1000 voice getway yesterday and am having a heck of a time getting it to work. I have a wideband internet connection and other people in my town have the same setup with no problems so what am I doing wrong? The green light on the front blinks twice so I know the unit is trying to get its IP address but I don't know why it can't. Also if I connect all the wires up properly my internet stops working. On the back of the vt1000 the 2 ports have little lights a green and an orange on each port. The green lights are on but the orange ones are not. Anyone know what I should do here. I'm by no means a computer guy but I should be able to figire this out with some help. Thanks in advance.

the light status: working

some hints:

//On the back of the vt1000 the 2 ports have little lights a green and an orange on each port.//

The green light is on when the Ethernet connection is available. It blinks during data
transfer over the port.

The yellow light is on if there is a 100Base-T link and off for a 10Base-T link.

? did you by any chance unplugged the device while lights blinking continuously?
coz it needs time to download...Instead, allow the image upgrade to be completed. If you unplug
the Motorola voice terminal during an image upgrade, the unit may become
inoperable.

you can call this number, tech support

The device never had a chance to connect to the internet. The only light that blinks is the power light. 2 times indicating it is attempting to find the IP address. But since the internet does not work at all while the vt1000 is hooked up it can't connect to anything. The lights on the back only the green ones are on and they are not blinking.

unplug the power from your modem and Vonage device

plug the ethernet cable from your modem into the vt1000

plug your modem back in

wait for it to boot.

plug in your moto vt1000 wait for it to boot

plug in your phone.....check for dial tone.

you went from static to DHCP which means the IP address was assigned from your modem rather than it giving itself a random address. anyway. if i helped at all. you are welcome
