I learned the hard way, Linksys built this, the handed off to Vonage and washed their hands. Vonage needs to get a clue and start listing all of the changes for thir firware and have aplace where people can manually update it if their servers haven't pushed it yet. I gave up on the WRTP54G after having to reset the thign about every 3 days. It got to the point where I could not even get into the web admin and this was with their latest firmware 1.00.62. I have a post on my website to help track the issues and firmware of the WRTP54G. www.techtronic.us Yesterday i finally got to talk to someone that only have a southern accent. How glad I was to hear it. No offense, i have 2 degrees in foreign languages and can understand almost anythign that is said to me in Engrish, Spanglish, or any other half English, but there is a difference between normal conversation and technical conversation, especially when Vonage is paying them, and time is money. To everyone out there using the WRTP54G, i suggest distching it, getting the Linksys PAP2 ver.2 and getting the WRT54G as your gateway access point, Ihave used the D-Link VWR (crappiest crap ever) the WRTP54G (not so crappy) and the PAP2. none compare to having a dedicated phone adapter and gateway. The all in one thought is nice, but for 99.9% uptime, get a dedicated divice for your Vonage service. Clearer, no wierd delays, no echoes, and peace of mind. |
