PostPosted: Sun Nov 05, 2006 8:28 am    Post subject: Motorola vt2442 caller id time/date stamp keeps changing Reply with quote Back to top

I just got my Vonage service up and running, and a Motorola VT2442 modem. Voice quality is great and everything seems to be working great, EXCEPT for my caller ID on my phone.

Before the switch the caller ID date/time stamp was correct. Now with Vonage service, incoming calls are stamped incorrectly and are constantly changing. A call last night (Oct 04/06, 8-something PM) was stamped as 9/17/06 at 2311hours, and 20 minutes later the next call was stamped 9/11/06 at 0752 hours

not sure what's going on here, I logged into my router to see if there was a timezone or similar setting, but didn't find anything. I have checked the settings on my Vonage account, they are correct. I have tried changing phones, and batteries in the phones.... The Vonage spreadsheet for calls shows the correct date and time, but all of the phones are mixed up. If two phones are on the line they both show the improper info, but identical improper info.

Please advise and thanks,,,

Are you connected to house wiring? If so, what happens if you just plug a phone/Caller ID unit directly into the Vonage adapter?

I am in Ontario canada and the electrical is house wiring.... I tried just the caller id box without a phone and called it several times... the display was 08 september 1032 and next was 08 september 1145 the calls were 3 minutes apart on 05 october at 1520 hours

I have wireless internet to my house and the access point is a linksys syster router (wrt 546 v5) the motorola Vonage router is direct from this access point.

thanks for any assistance

what he means by house wiring is the Vonage box, is the telephone line from there going in to the wall, or to the phone/CID unit.

Right. The idea here is that if you've plugged your Vonage box into a jack in your house and phones into other jacks, you may have a wiring issue that's causing this problem. If you are using house wiring, unplug the Vonage box from the wall jack and plug a phone and CID unit directly into the Vonage box. See if that changes anything.

If you have plugged into house wiring, were you careful to disconnect all land lines from the wiring first?

Very odd. Have you run the forum Voip test? What do the results look like?
