Somewhat faintly in the background of all my calls I hear a busy signal. This has been going on for about a month and its beyond irritating. I have checked the wires, reset the box, no help. I even turned my sound quality down to hald way point (I can not recall the quality description but it is the setting in the middle).

I have a cable connection w/ pleanty of band width. I use a linksys RTP300.

Any ideas?

Are you using house wiring or is your phone plugged directly into the RTP300? Is the phone cordless or wired?

happens either way.

Vonage customer care had me reset the voice settings of the router to factory default and NOW there is a tremendous hiss.

I have to admit I am pretty close to dropping Vonage service. I have had it nearly a year and the last three months has been one problem after another.

Now the hiss is gone but connection cycles from:
loud click
dial tone
nothing

This cycle repeats every 2 seconds

And yes its a corded phone plugged directly into the box.

Looks like there's no easy answer here. Please post the technical details listed in the sticky message at the top of the forum. Let's see if there's anything there that will help us.

Did you ever have good Vonage service using your current ISP?

Thanks for your help, ther service worked fine for 7 months then last two months I have had spotty performance until now its just kaput.

I've put in multiple support requests, and got no where fast. Its 8PM on FRI, I've been at this since 3PM and I am done with it.

I don't like to leave a thread unresolved.
After 4 days, re-wired jacks, new lines to jacks, reset equipment, rested eqp for several hours and then reset equipment, tech support finally decided that I had a failed device (RTP300) and replaced it. So it total I was out a week, with the new device it was working in 10 minutes.

It cost $7 to ship the failed device back to them. I have asked for credit for the shipping and 25% of the monthly fee for loss of service. I expect to get nothing, but one can dream.

Anyhow it was a failed device, it only took lots of hours and several tech support calls before they would admit it.

I should also say, I was easliy able to to FWD all my calls to my cell phone via the website. So i never missed a call the entire time. I hate to sound so bitter it was just a rough 7 days.
