Hey, gang.

WideOpenWest Cable modem @ 900kbs->
Belkin Router (WiFi w/WEP) ->
Motorola VT2442

Service has been great for over a month. Suddenly, the Moto's red power light is flashing and preventing the phone from working; Moto router doesn't seem to be getting an IP (Internet can't be accessed through Moto, either.)(But again, I usually get Internet through my Belkin Router (placed between the cable modem and Motorola router).

The Motorola (and telephone) works FINE when I connect it directly to my cable modem (Solid green power light).

I've spent hours starting and restarting in proper order (10 minute gaps!). I've even done hard-resets on both routers.

Is there some setting I may have in place that is suddenly preventing the Moto from getting connectivity? Thanks! Cry

Brother, I'll try anything.

On what device should I enter ipconfig/all? A laptop connected to the Belkin or the Motorola?

I also use a Belkin wireless router and the problem I incurred was that the firewall started denying IP address to the phone adapter due to the amount of packet traffic. It thought that my network was under attack or hacked. So, I disabled the firewall and enabled WEP(for my conscious) and that resolved my issue. Make sure your DHCP is set to aquire IP address automatically.

Do you recommend leaving the Belkin router in front of the Voip access (Motorola), or placing it behind, as doxter101 suggests?

I thought I had tried that last night, but the Belkin didn't seem to be getting an IP from the Motorola!

Am I right in thinking it's just a setting issue (and not a suddenly defective Motorola)? Thanks!

I think is just settings issues. That would explain why the light is red since it can not registar with Vonage. I would also suggest putting the Belkin in front of the phone adapter. This way the router gives priority vs the moto.

OK. I'm going to take that route.

Now obviously, I'm no network administrator...
How should I set my Belkin? DHCP or static IP? If I set it to static, what address should I put enter?

I would be set to dynamic if you have the router set to obtain IP auto.
