Since Vonage has managed to hook me into a year subscription by conveniently losing any record of my trial cancellation and has charged me twice already for a service I haven't even tried (I never even hooked up the equipment), I figured maybe I'd go ahead and try them for the year to avoid a further $80 cancellation fee, and since I still need a cheaper phone service, etc. I need to know a couple things first and would appreciate it if someone could help me.

It says in the directions that the blue line that comes with the Vonage box has to be hooked up with my cable box (Arris), but I already have a line running from my cable box to my WiFi box, so should I be able to plug that blue line into my wifi box and it still work? Also, I share my internet connection with two other people (hence the wifi) but I'm the one who really needs the speed and reliability so I have the cable modem in my bedroom. I don't want people having to come in and out of my room for the phone, whether to use or charge it, so how can I set things up so others can use a phone that's plugged in somewhere else in the house, away from the cable modem? Do I have to buy another special phone?

u can plug your internet cable cord into your WiFi box , it should work from that hub thats the way I have mine

Proper configuration for optimal use of Vonage would be:

Arris Modem -> Vonage Router ->WiFi Router

Also, don't recall if you have cable or DSL.

If you have DSL you may need to setup your Vonage Router for PPPOE.

If you have Cable, check to ensure that you modem has DOCSIS version 2.0.

I have a cable modem, DJ, and it is DOCSIS 2.0. What does this establish for me? Simply that Vonage will work with my modem?

Basically it means that you're unlikely to have problems due to poor modem performance.

To answer your question about access to the phone, there are a couple of things that you can do. First, you can get a cordless phone with multiple handsets and remote charging stations. Avoid 2.4 GHz phones; go with 5.6 GHz. Second, if the house is wired for telephone service with jacks in several rooms including your bedroom, and if that wiring isn't being used for conventional landlines at the moment, then you'll probably be able to use that wiring with Vonage to locate the phone outside your room. The hard wiring forum here can help you if you want to go that way.
