I Just moved from the US to Macau China. I am staying in a hotel for a month till I get my condo. I plugged my Vonage in and received a crystal clear dial tone immediately. I can place call but connection is extremely bad. I checked the upload speed it was very low 20 kbps. My download speed was 950 kbps. my computer operates slow at this connection speed also. When I move into my condo and subscribe to internet service with the highest they offer speed do you think this will fix my problem?

20 kbps...

You'll need an upload speed of 90kbps for a high-quality phone call...

I'm sure they may offer you a good Internet Service--perhaps about 384kbps upload minimum.

Macau does belong to China, but I am sure the last time I was there it is under Hong Kong Rule, which is a SAR (Special Administrative Region) and they shouldnt block Voip, Hong Kong is one the the most advanced Internet societies on the World, I am not sure whether its available in Macau, but look at www.hkbn.net (Hong Kong Broadband) they are offering speeds of up to 1000MB, with a Fibre to the Home/Building service, that is far more advanced and cheaper than anything we have in public use in the western world.

Then it should work, although Vonage can do very little to help you if the connection isn't great.
