Please connect your pc directly to your receiver and do the following:

Verify that you can access the internet with a browser

Click on the Start icon at the bottom lef of screen

Click Run

Type in CMD then click on ok.

At the DOS prompt type in: ipconfig, then hit enter

Post the information returned.

i cannot access the internet,it keeps saying that the cable is unplugged but after a few moments it will get connected again..my connection to the device keeps dropping whenever i plug my internet cable into the wan port of the device

whenever i get my device to connect to my pc with the internet cable plugged in it(device) i get this infos:

ip address: 192.168.15.100
subnet mask: 255.255.255.0
gateway: 192.168.5.1


i cannot connect to the net though,the pages wont load up and the connection keeps dropping.
These are the infos that i get when i plug the internet cable directly on my pc:

ip address: 192.168.232.70
subnet mask: 255.255.224.0
gateway: 192.168.224.1

When I asked about the receiver, I was not talking about your Vonage device. Are you calling your Vonage VTech your receiver or are you calling your wireless internet service a receiver? Or did they give you a receiver to capture their signal?

I am confused.

Second, I asked about your computer. When you remove your vtech and simply connect your computer ONLY, do you have consistent internet connections through it? Or is it intermittent?

The reason why I ask about the computer is b/c normally, these types of services require some sort of login in order to verify who you are unless this "receiver" handles that login portion for you.

Please clarify these things so that we can diagnose your situation a bit more.

ok guys,i made it work*at last* i forgot to copy the dhcp..i think thats where the problem was..ok,on to my next problem..whenever i connect my internet connection to the wan port of the Vonage device i get the notice 'network cable unplugged' my internet connection is fine whenever i directly connect it to my pc.what do you think the problem is?is there anything that i should do to the Vonage device?

im sorry,i got confused with the question,too..anyway,they gave me a receiving device to capture there signal which is directly connected to a cable and connected to my lan card..

I am a bit confused. when you say you copied the dhcp are you referring to the subnet mask or the gateway? dhcp is what your receiver will do in terms of assigning a different ip address to each computer that uses your wireless connection so that it knows which computer to send the information to.

I think that if you copied exactly all the details ip address, subnet mask, gateway, you will have a conflict with the vtech and your computer having the same ip address.

Here is what I hope will work in your case.

1. From your receiver connect to the WAN port of your VTech.
2. Keep the settings on your VTech as is since it's already working.
3. Now from the VTech PC/LAN port connect it to your computer.
4. For your computer you will want to set it to obtain ip automatically and remove any software they installed for you.

#4 is what I was asking you about whether your ISP did anything to configure your computer to work on their network. Usually, they will install some special settings to make it work for them. You will need to make sure they are returned back to the default of obtaining an IP address automatically.

If you are not sure how to check to see if your computer is set to obtaining an ip address automatically, try this for windows xp.

Go to the control panel and double click the network connections icon.

Next you will want to double click the local area network icon.

Then scroll down until you see internet protocol (TCP/IP) and select properties. You will then see one of the choices as obtain Ip automatically. Make sure that it is selected.

Last but not the least, you will want to turn all things off and wait for 5 minutes. Then turn on your receiver and make sure all the lights are blinking and/or solid correctly. Next turn on your vtech phone and make sure that it is also working properly. Lastly, turn on your computer once your vtech is working.

This should get everything set up. If you interchange your computer and your vtech without turning them off and turning them on again, you will have issues.

Let me know if this works.
