Help!
I have been successfully running Vonage with a Comcast cable modem for 8 months. I replaced a POTS line and rewired my ADT alarm system.
Sometime in last few weeks the ADT system stopped communicating. If I test the alarm system, I can see the call to ADT when I look at the calls on the Vonage web site however ADT does not get the information.
When I call ADT, they claim they don't support systems with Vonage.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. |

Should've been posted in Fax, TiVo, and Alarm forum. |

Did ADT say why ? Is it because the alarm is sending touch tones ? What is your Vonage Bandwidth Saver setting ? If not at the highest setting, set it to the highest. This is changed by logging into the Vonage web site. |

ADT comment was they didn't support Vonage and that they could send out a technician for $100 plus some other rate for each 15 minute period to check the system.
The bandwidth saver setting is set to the highest |

i read something in the Vonage terms of service agreement, Vonage actually does not support alarm systems. In fact, i think no other Voip companies as well. It is stated there, it may or it may not work, but Vonage does not recommend you doing it. since Voip adapters depend on electricity to operate, outages may cause your alarm systems to malfunction. but, techs from the Philippines told me that they actually have one home alarm company that they support. try contacting people from alarms.com, maybe they can help. |

I have the same problem. If you have a newer ADT system, they can be upgraded to have cell service rather than POTs, which in my opinion is a good idea anyway.
However, I have an older system that cannot be upgraded, so I either have to replace my ADT system (Approx $2000) or go elsewhere.
I'm looking seriously at alarm.com/vonage.

Here's a security provider that was designed with Voip in mind. Check out http://ucontrol.com. It uses three redundant paths back to their monitoring station - broadband, cellular, and traditional phone lines. Also allows you to remotely control and monitor your system via the web or your cell phone. The service works with your existing alarm system (ADT or others). |

Not completely correct. If you've got an older ADT system - ie - one that will not take ADT's cell backup, then ucontrol wont work either, and you'll have to replace your old system.
