Just wondering if anyone else has had this happen with Vonage. After hanging up the phone after a call my phone rings, I pick up the reciever only to hear myself saying hello like the line is recording and playing back what I say...Has anyone had this happen...?

I am running from wall jack ---> DSL modem ---> PAP2 --->the Linksys Router WRT54G --> to network.

I've had this happen to me from time to time, but the only times I've seen it is when I call in to my companies voicemail system.

When it rings and I pick up I hear the automated attendant giving me options.

What I've done to avoid this is to make sure I exit the menu system before hanging up. This seems to have addressed the issue for me.

If you are having this issue with regular calls, I'm not sure what to say because I have not had that problem.

Hope this helps.

basically the problem here is with the SIP messages.

happened.

and im confused on you setup..

DSL modem ---> PAP2 --->the Linksys Router WRT54G --> to network.

this has happened to me a number of times. it's b/c when I hang up sometimes, I tap my flash and the phone thinks that I am making a conference call or using the 2nd line. As a result, the first line is still active. So when I hang up, it calls me back to tell me that my first line is still active.

I resolved this by making sure that when I hang up, I keep the hang up lever depressed for longer than a second. This then hangs up the first call and everything works well.

I had this problem a year ago, then it went away.
Now it is back. It is driving us crazy.

Even if you try to make an outgoing call, you are constantly interrupted by the "call waiting" tone, which is way too loud.

It renders the phone line unusable for an hour or so after every phone call.

I have to go to my phone system and unplug the phone line from the adapter for a second, then Vonage hangs me up.

In my case, the problem is the RTP300 doesn't know that my phone switch has "hung up". (Although it did 2 months ago).

Panasonic KXT616 -> Linksys RTP300 -> Gig switch -> Firewall -> Terayon cable modem -> Comcast.

If you are connected into home wiring this could be happening because the wiring at the point of demarcation is still connected to your outside carrier, aka the line from the telephone pole to your Network Interface Unit (NIU).

Although your old service is disconnected there is still voltage on the line that could be causing your Vonage Router to think there is a phone still off-hook due to the voltage.

simple answer on this one
is make a hard reset on the device.

just push the reset button on the back of the Vonage device itself.
hold on that for a min and release.

then after 2 to 3 mins. make a full network reboot.
in order.

then test it after 5 mins Wink

The problem is no more than you hanging up prior to the other caller hanging up.Therefore the adapter rings back as automatic ring back.

After having this problem for about 2 years, I have no doubt what the problem is.

The problem is the RTP300 doesn't know that my phone system has signalled "hang up". I have done the troubleshooting with a conventional phone connected to the RTP300, and proved that this is what is happening.

I have a house full of extensions running off the phone switch (KTD616), and I'm certainly not going to give that up. And it works perfectly when connected to a regular phone line.

Unfortunately, knowing what the problem is doesn't help me solve it much. Because in their infinite wisdom, Vonage locked us out of the settings on the RTP300 so we cannot set the proper options.

i know,
that's why im asking you to make a user reset on the device
might this reset the problem in the SIP messages.
If there's no "message" in the SIP, this normally happens. Rolling Eyes
