1. Location: Fargo ND
2. ISP: Qwest DSL With MSN Premium
3. Upload of Up To 1536 usually around 1200
Download of 896 usually around 600-700
4. Modem: Actiontec GT701-WG
5. Vonage: Motorola V2442
6. Network: Modem >> Adapter >> PC
7. Provisioning Fails on Voice. Vonage says everything is fine on their end. Setup static IP address on the Vonage adapter of 192.168.0.45. DMZ is setup on the Modem of 192.168.0.45. Any ideas from here?

Unfortunately I am at work right now so i can't run the test.

Blinking twice means the VT2442 is trying to get an IP, so apparently the static assignment isn't taking effect.

Has the setup ever worked? Can you access the internet with your PC plugged into the LAN port on the VT2442? Does your DSL require a log in and password?

Ordinarily you should not have to put the VT2442 in the modem's DMZ. What led you to that setup?

it did work before i moved upstairs to my new apartment. my dsl is not PPPoE. Vonage told me to setup the DMZ themselves. if they're that stupid to tell me to do something like that then i will applaud their stupidity. And this was their second tier support that told me this...

[edit] and yes. i am able to access the interweb thru the ethernet port on the V2442

Do minimum round trip and average round trip actually come up as --(that would be impossible unless you were running the test from the server it is installed on)? And what kind of error do you get on the Voip test? Does it error when run from a computer plugged directly into the modem?

Also, are you able to access the internet via a computer plugged into the Vonage router? I did a search of the modem that you have, and it appears to be a modem/router combo, is this correct? I also see that there appears to be a firewall built into this modem/router combo. This could have been what Vonage was trying to have you bypass by putting your Vonage router in the DMZ. Can you log into the modem/router and disable the firewall completely? If you do this then powercycle your network are you able to get a phone line provisioned on the Vonage device?

Yes Min and Average do come up that way i'm doing the test from www.myspeed.visualware.com I did a copy/paste.

All it says on the Voip test is Cannot run Voice Over IP Test. I tried running it from both of my computers from the modem directly as well as thru the Vonage ATA.

I am able to access the web thru the Vonage router - everything works fine except for the device provisioning.

I do not have the firewall turned on on the modem at all. I actually just upgraded the firmware thinking that that may have something to do with the issue as well.

[edit:]I thought i didn't but i did turn it off and was able to get the Voip test done results:

Speed test statistics
---------------------
Download speed: 1273624 bps
Upload speed: 770880 bps

Download test type: socket

Ok. Seeing that the Voip test will run sans firewall, but fail with the firewall strongly suggests that the firewall is very selective about what it blocks. I would imagine from this that the firewall is probably the culprit in this setup failing. Now that the firewall is disabled, powerdown your Vonage router and bring it back up like 30 seconds later. Is it still failing provisioning?

Now it seems to provision fine. Thing is though it was working fine and then I went away for about five minutes and it had lost its provisioning again.
