When I connect my phone to the Vonage device (Motorola) I get a recorded message saying

"This telephone line cant register to the Vonage network"

"This telephone line is not commisioned for use. Please try the other line"

What is the model # of the Vonage device ?
Was it working before or is this a new Vonage device ?
Is the light for phone port lit on the Vonage device?

well I was googling and came across this thread and figured I would bump this instead of make my own......

I have a D-Link VTA and it has worked flawlessly for over a month.....but today it started giving me this recording "This telephone line cannott register to the Vonage network"......I gave up for a while figuring maybe Vonage was doing some maintanence or something. So half an hour later I come back and it is still not working! I hang up try again every few minutes, and one time I get a dial tone I make my call without issue, then I hang up thinking the issue must be resolved. Apparently it is not because thats the only call I got out before it started again!

And no when it is messing up the phone light is not on.....

just in case this helps I have a Linksys WRT-54GL running DD-WRT v24.......

EDIT: also nothing has changed from when it worked to now.......

1. Your location - Michigan

2. Your ISP name and type - Comcast (formerly AT&T Broadband), Cable

3. Upload and download speeds - 8500Kbps/720Kbps

4. Modem make and model Motorola - SB5120

5. Type of Vonage adapter used ie RT31P2 or PAP2 - D-Link VTA

6. Setup of Network ie Modem---->Vonage Adapter-->PC - Modem to router to Vonage adapter

7. Issue you are experiencing ie dropped calls, choppy audio etc - recorded error message "This telephone line cannott register to the Vonage network"

8. Run this Voip Test: After the test has fully completed, in the Advanced Tab, click on "View Text" in the lower right hand corner. Copy-N-Paste that data into your post. -

Hmm. Well, you posted all the information and I don't see any clues there. Your Voip results are fine. I assume that you've re-booted everything. If not, please do. If it still doesn't work, then temporarily plug the VTA directly into the modem and re-boot modem and VTA. If that doesn't get the thing connected, then try a hard reset on the VTA. If it still won't work after that, then I'm afraid you'll need to have a talk with Vonage technical support.

If you're connected to house wiring, disconnect and plug your phone directly into the VTA during testing. Also, use the simplest phone you've got, preferably analog, for testing.

well I spent what seemed like an hour on hold.....got through to someone who seemed to know what they are doing.....apparently something on my account was changed? but they changed it back and it works again.....

Glad to hear the problem is solved.

Customer service is a hit and miss, lately I have only been on hold for under 5 minutes, but I do remember being on hold for over 30 minutes.

I had the same problem today. Comcast is actively pushing us to switch over to their Voip before they shut down Vonage on their network. I hook up the computer direct to the router, bang it is on with blistering speed. Set up the Vonage and upload speeds are 1/10th as fast and no phone line. Come back later, no internet and I have to hard boot everything again. "No phone Line" message when you pick up the handset. This is our second box from Vonage. I am ready to just pay bigger cell phone bill and give up the whole home phone thing completely.
