Post subject: Help Desk app can't pass through router
Hi, I am trying to use help desk vnc. It listens to port 443. I then send a client piece that calls my ip and uses port 443 as well.
I have forwarded this port on the router to point to my local ip.
I can't for the life of me get it to work. The application worked fine when I went comcast>linksys but.... comcast>motorola won't work for me.
It is a motorola VT2442
any suggestions are quite welcome lol....
Vonage
router is set up as dhcp, my local computer is set to a static ip because it kept changing when I would reboot the router in attempts to fix the issue.
How do I allow packets to pass through?
I do have a bunch of linksys's so If I can make the
Vonage
router stupid and forward phone ports from a linksys, that would work as well I suppose.
thanks
Nigel

ahhck. I can't believe I did not think of this earlier. I can simply go comcast>linksys and then forward some ports to the
Vonage
router and simply use it for the phone line(no ethernet).
I should likely be doing that anyway. Said motorola is a bit dodgy IMO.
I would still like to get to the bottom of this. It could effect a range of things aside from my help desk app.
thanks
N.
I guess I should ask what ports I forward for the phone to work but I am sure I can track that down somewhere....

You shouldn't have to forward any ports to the
Vonage
ATA.
