I want to setup Vonage Voip service at 2 different locations - one at my apartment where I stay during the week, and at my home for weekends. Can I subscribe to one phone number and buy 2 routers such that I do not have to carry the Vonage router with me every time?
Both of the location have DSL service and are DHCP enabled. Does Vonage map their phone number to a router or physical location, or can I use the same number with 2 routers at 2 different locations?
Thanks for any guidance you can provide. |

Vonage programs the phone adapter for one phone adapter so you can't have two phone adapters with one phone number. But what you can do is add a second line and configure the Vonage account to ring the secondary phone number if someone calls you. But do note that someone at the house (which you stay for the weekends) may answer the phone and would probably mention "sorry you got the wrong number," so it's not a very good ideal to do this. Instead, I may have to recommend you bring a phone adapter with you between your house and your apartment. |

You could subscribe to a second number and have your first, or primary number, "SimulRing" with the second. |

I would read the thread Using V-Phone with existing account. In this thread Vonalink details his successful attempts to use a number with two separate devices using the new Vonage Add-on "Move a number". Although his experience was with a V-Phone I expect that it is valid with any adapter. So, in response to your question, we used to say that it was troublesome to do this, that you needed to configure both adapters for the same line and be certain that only one was plugged in at any time. Now it appears you can control the active adapter via Vonage's website. One other point to think about when doing this. You may want to remove any configured 911 address so that your 911 calls go to Vonage's emergency operators. If you have it configured for the wrong address it may delay help in an emergency. |

xnewuser is right... i would suggest you to get an additional line, then, set the call forwarding or the simulring to the second number. i assure you this one will work |
