Voip has been working fine for months, then today, nothing. The line is located at a small office. Our internet access is a T1 line that comes in to a hardware firewall, then goes to a switch. From the switch it connects to the Voip box (RTP300), then the lines connect into the phone. I've tried calling tech support but all they can do is read from their computer screen from somewhere in India. Very frustrating. They suggested moving the RTP300 outside the firewall, but I say since it's been working the way it is for months, how is that going to help? Besides, unhooking my internet line to move the box will cut off all my users from the internet. This is not doable. Anyone have any suggestions? I've tried unplugging the RTP300 and then plugging it back in.

Out of curiosity, have you tried shutting down Your Adapter, Router, switch, T1 line and then waititng a minute or two and then turning everything back on? That may solve your problem....Just a suggestion..

Nope, haven't tried taking all that other stuff down... the rest of the network is working perfectly... I can't really "pull the plug" on internet access during business hours unless emergency. Maybe I'll try that in the morning before we open. Thanks.

Maybe search for threads about RTP300 and latest downloaded firmware 1.01.07 ? Some people are having problems with it and reverting to older versions.

Rennoc, from what you've said I assume that the phone light is out but internet access through the RTP300 is OK. Is that correct? Does the forum Voip test run on a computer plugged into the RTP?

Have there been any changes/updates to the hardware firewall? Can it be disabled for a few minutes after hours?

I have the exact same setup and problem. I thought the Voip router was the problem at first, so I took it from work and plugged it in at my place and it worked just fine. I figured then it was just a blocked port on the router. I removed ALL the firewall settings and filters I had set up and it still did not work. I opened the Voip ports, I set up a DMZ, and I came in on a saturday evening when the business was closed did a total shutdown and still no Voip. I even plugged the Vonage router directly into the modem and it still did not work. I called my ISP to find out if they had blocked ports or set up filters and they told me they did nothing of the sort because Voip is a service they want to start offering in the near future. I called Vonage tech support and spent an entire afternoon on the phone with them, to finally end up with them telling me to plug it back in directly to the modem...
I have done the Voip speed test and I get a TERRIBLE download speed, however I have done this test on other sites and my speed is just fine. I will admit that I am totally stumped!.

Update... I tried resetting (unplugging power to) all equipment, router, firewall, switch, RTP300... still having the same problem. And yes, the phone lights are out on the RTP300. There is no internet access THROUGH the RTP300 and this is an issue that tech support seems to get stuck on also so let me clairfy... the RTP box is plugged into a switch, this switch is central to the rest of my network of 3 servers and 15 clients. All my computers have internet access, there doesn't seem to be any problem with any of my other hardware. To test this further, I even bypassed the firewall and switch and plugged the T1 line directly into the RTP box... still nothing. Vonage sent us another RTP300 yesterday and it doesn't work either. The only change to our network recently has been the introduction of a new server two weeks prior to the Voip problem. I don't understand what's going on.

Well I still have internet access through the router just no phone. As soon as I find the solution to the problem I will post it here and If you find the problem please do the same. I am pulling my hair out here trying to figure this one out.

As a temporary fix I am going to set up a VPN to one of our external offices and run the Voip router through it to see if that works. I can not have this as a permanent setup though it would be ridiculous!

Turns out in our situation that the DHCP server has stopped giving out IP addresses. Since the RTP300 was set to obtain the address automatically it stopped working. Setting a static IP address fixed the problem. Now I have to figure out what happened to my DHCP server.
