Hi. This morning I dialed the Vonage V-Forecast (bought my cheap phone yesterday) and I noticed that when I hear the temperature and 5-day forecast, I heard that the woman sounded "ederly" but no offense to them... What kind of speech synthesis does Vonage use for Vonage V-Forecast?
Could you make it so that it sounded like a 20- to 30-year-old woman? This is to say that I can understand better, despite being hearing impaired, as I'd use TTY most of the time for general/business calls. |

What's next, a request that the voice sound like a 20-year-old blonde with big hooters? |

It doesn't have to sound that way, but the speech synthesizer in V-Forecast needed an improvement. It doesn't have to sound _very_ natural, but the voice have to be smooth and clear enough that I can be able to understand better.
Otherwise, since I can assume that everyone can be able to understand the voice without any problems in Vonage V-Forecast, can Vonage provide a TTY version of Vonage V-Forecast? |

i do believe Mr. GraysonPeddie didn't mean any offense at all. but honestly, when i first read his message 'bout hearing an "elderly" on the Vonage v-forecast, i was a bit amused. so, i also understand UMP25's response. anyways, Vonage will just have to make sure that the voice on the forecast (or on any other feature which uses the audio) should be audible enough for everybody to hear & understand. as for the age, i think it won't matter at all ... a 60 year old woman may sound like an 18 year old lady on air. right? as to Mr. GraysonPeddie's request, attention Vonage! |

I understand if it amuses you and I'm doing my best to give constructive criticism about the voice in Vonage V-Forecast. |

I agree with Grayson. I believe the voice should sound much better than that. I don't have a hearing problem though it is very tough to understand her. I am not making fun of anyone who has hearing difficulty. I don't use the V-Cast since I cannot understand. I use Yahoo Weather or a local number we call here to get the information. 765 649 3111 if anyone would like to try that number out.
Have a great day! |
