PostPosted: Sun Oct 15, 2006 2:48 pm    Post subject: Anyone know Panasonic 5.8Ghz cordless phones? Reply with quote Back to top

Hello all,
I have Vonage and I have a new Panasonic 5.8Ghz phone system. The model is KX-TG5576. I have a base station with answering machine and 4 handsets. Each handset has a full color LCD screen. They are sort of like home cell phones. The phone system works great, however it has some beyond stupid settings (such as not being able to turn off the bright LCD screen when the handset is charging) that I would like to change. I cannot find a Panasonic home phone forum, and I need advanced tech advice on my phone. Panasonic is of no help. I think I need to enter the service menu to change these, however I have no idea what buttons to push to get into it? There are no settings in the regular menu on the phone to adjust any of the things that I want to change.

Can anyone help? Anyone know Panasonic phones or know of a Panasonic phone forum?

Thank you!

Page 55 of the user manual. Look for LCD Contrast:

I don't want to adjust contrast, I want to turn the LCD screen off and put into screen saver mode while it is charging. When the handset is not charging it automatically goes into screen saver mode. I cannot understand why Panasonic thought it was a good idea to make the LCD contantally stay on and kill itself while the handset is charging.

If it's not detailed in the manual good chance you can't. I have a 5.8ghz panasonic set, and have one pet peeve about it, which is that you can't use the speaker phone option, nor does the screen backlight come on for incoming calls, when it's charging. Other then that I'm very happy with them.

Then bash it against a rock. Very Happy J/K

Every electronic device has a service menu. Every single cell phone that I have seen, has a hidden service menu. I can get into the service menu on my LG cell phone and change things that most people don't know about. I know this phone has a service menu, I just can't find it!

PostPosted: Thu Oct 19, 2006 3:13 am    Post subject: Caller ID Auto-Edit in Panasonic Phones Not Work w/ Vonage? Reply with quote Back to top

Many Panasonic cordless telephones have a "caller ID auto-edit" feature that will allow you to select an area code that, when calls come in FROM that area code, only the person's number (w/o area code) is shown on the caller ID. My old Panasonic had this and it worked great on my POTS line. My NEW Panasonic has this, and it again works great on my POTS line but not with Vonage.

Is there a difference in the way that Vonage distributes incoming caller ID that it forces the entire 11 digit number of the incoming caller to be displayed regardless of whether you set caller ID auto-edit on your telephone? It's not a serious problem, just an odd one that I thought should be brought up and addressed. Thanks!
