Can anyone else confirm the issue?

My BT Synergy 3505 just displays "CALL" and no Caller ID.
I have a iDect v1 phone that displays Caller Id fine. As a work around I have rigistered the synergy handsets to the base of the iDect v1 but this is not the best solution.

Is there a list of Compatable UK phones that work with Vonage?

BTW the synergy Caller ID works fine with my current landline provider Telewest. Which I would like to cancel but wont until Caller ID is sorted.

Any help would be great

I asked Vonage for a list of known compatible handsets, but instead they assured me that my phone should work and that they would fix the problem (but I just want caller display to work, even if I have to fork out for a new phone to get that).

They thought they had fixed the problem, but it still doesnt seem to work for me yet.

Thanks for the info. I phoned tech support I think I had a guy from the US who tried this and that. but to no eval.

So emailed tech support and they said since the iDect V1 works that I should check with the vendors to see if the BT Synergy 3505 was compatible with voip???????

I have had a quick look around the web and the BT site says that 3505 is compatible with thier broadband talk...

So do I need to say to Vonage get it sorted?

I dont think its a case of a phone being compatible with Voip, the phone point of the service is that a normal telephone can be used.

I believe the problem lies with how they are providing the caller ID info to the handsets. The phone I use where Caller ID doesnt work, works with the BT network and also previously with the Freetalk Voip service (before Vonage "took it over"). Incidently the BT Studio 100 phones work with Vonage cause I tested that handset.

If Vonage indicate to you that your handset isnt compatible, I would recommend asking them to supply a list of all handsets that they have verified are compatible with their service.

"We understand that you would like for caller ID to work with your current BT phone. We have made a few further adjustments that may help to correct this issue, but unfortunately our Caller ID sometimes simply will not work with some phones.

It does work with most, however, so we do not compile lists of good and bad models. We do recommend that you save the receipt until after you test to make sure it works, if you decide to replace your current phone. In the mean time though, please reboot your Vonage device and retest with your current phone as the latest changes may have helped to resolve the issue."


It didn't work

So what now methinks?

I guess that conflicts with the following from the Vonage.co.uk website

"You can tell who's calling you before you answer the phone. Vonage Caller Display will show you the name and phone number of your incoming caller on your Caller Display device whenever it is available. It's compatible with any Caller Display-enabled touch-tone phone or device. It's an excellent way to manage your incoming calls."

*UPDATE*

Still not working *sigh* and after many an email to tech support and many a email back saying:

"let's try one more thing" or
"Sorry your phone maybe just not compatible" or
"We would like you to swap the defective router"

I may just give in and swap out the VT2442 Cry

Who has the Dlink VWR and is it any cop?

UPDATE!

Had VWR for a couple of days now.
I still have a poxy US ring tone and caller ID has worked once or twice since I installed it.

I have spoken to two really helpfull Tech guys who were not dismissive of my situation at all.

"Norm" tried to help me but didn't have enough authority so he passed me on to "Larry" (Level 3) Tech support who was understanding and we spent quite a while trying to sort CLID and UK ring tone issues.

He put my line into debug mode and has sent the info to the engineers. I'm now waiting for a reply back. Fingers crossed

I'm beginning to think that these devices can't handle any more than one handset to the base??? or it really is my handset that is at fault.
