Right - I'm aware of the VTech 8100 and the Uniden 1869V - the Vonage branded IP phones. I probably will stay away from the Vtech because they are simply not hearing aid compatible at all. The company really is bad, rather than giving me the specifics of a phone they manufacture, they refer me to Vonage. Vtech is nortorious for being unfriendly to the hearing aid environment/ users. The Uniden device seems to be able to plug in any other phone in the phone 1 slot, so in a round-about way, I still be may be able to use my known hearing aid compatible phone with the Uniden IP phone. The Uniden equipment has the added feature that it can support as many as 10 headsets.
However, I'm trying to keep my roll out costs low. Right now I don't want any extras - just the regular adapter and my own equipment. I would only move to one of the IP options only if call quality is bad with my own equipment, or if I need more handsets. I also want alittle time to pass, to see if they add bluetooth headset ability with their phones. Vonage said a phone splitter in the adapter will work, but they said it may affect call quality - we'll see I guess. |
