I recently joined Vonage. I chose to not port my number over. So I have my Vonage number and my Verizon number (until I cancel it)

The problem is when I try to call my Verizon number from the Vonage phone. It give the message that the line is out of service. Has anyone else experienced this? Is this normal? I can call what seems to be any other number and not get that message.

Thanks in advance

Frank

No, it isn't normal. You'll need to talk to Vonage customer service, and then maybe with Verizon customer service.

No the Verizon line isn't disconnected yet. Does it have something to do with my home number (verizon) having DSL on it?

I wouldn't think so. Even if the DSL is the source of your Vonage service, you should be able to place a call to the associated voice telephone number.

I have not heard of that being an issue on our end. I work for a Verizon call center. Along with our call center company taking Vonage calls. I have heard more about it being on Vonage's end. I am not trained on the Vonage end though my friends are. I can ask them what could be the trouble.

It is a Verizon issue. Spoke with Vonage tech. He called my verizon number with a Vonage phone from his side and got same message. Then he called with non-vonage phone and got though.

Going to call Verizon this week, the see what the deal is.

Well just got off phone with 3 Verizon Techs. They looked at everything on there side, and nothing is too be wrong. They feel that it is a Vonage problem. So I guess nobody wants to accept the problem and try to fix it. Evil or Very Mad

Do you know anyone else using Verizon in your area? You said that you can call anyone else using your Vonage phone, but have you explicitly tried calling a local Verizon number other than your own?

Just got this email.

In regards to your email, we have removed the number from our databases.
Please allow 24 to 48 hours and you should have no further difficulty
with calling this number from Vonage.

Now everything is working fine.

Not sure what they meant about removing number from database, but oh well.
