Sometimes,using Vonage, when i pick up the phone to answer a call, no one is answering back. Basically both sides go mute. But this never happens during a call only after i pick up the phone. THIS IS REALLY aNNOYING as sometimes i have to call like 2 times before someone picks up. it is a real problem and we are considering switching to another Voip provider.

Please read the "what to post when you are having technical problems with Vonage" thread and post the relevant information. There are a lot of possible causes, but narrowing it down requires more information.

I too have been having the problem of calls being muted on both ends with incoming calls. Phone rings, but no answer. I end up needing to call them back. This only happens about 30-50% of the time.

I have had Vonage since 2003 and have just noticed this starting within the last week.

1. Columbia MD
2. Comcast Cable
3. 1 Mbps up – 4 down
4. Cable Modem: Motorola Surfboard SB5107
5. ATA: Motorola Model: VT1000 Revision: 0 BSP: 1.2/0
6. Setup of Network ---->Cable Modem -> ATA -> Linksys wireless adapter
7. Issue is Muted calls

Your average round trip time to the server is horrendous. Please run a comparison test at www.testyourvoip.com . Then plug your computer directly into your modem- no Vonage adapter and no wireless router- and repeat the tests.

Was ready run the test as recommended, but wanted to rerun the test via my Laptop connected wireless as before. Much better this time on the round trip.

Next time I get a blank inbound call, I will go and run as recommended.
