Cable modem doesn't have anything to do with home networking. Cable modem 'serves' you the connection to the Internet.
If you buy a router seperatly, you can connect a router to your cable modem.
Oh wait a minute...
I did a search in the Internet and I notice this:
Quote:
Built-in Cable Modem- The cg814wg Gateway connects directly to the WAN using an integrated cable modem. The modem is DOCSIS 2.0 compliant and compatible with DOCSIS 1.0 and DOCSIS 1.1
http://search.live.com/results.aspx?q=CG814WG&mkt=en-US&FORM=LVCP
And you say that it's not DOCSIS 1.1 or 2.0 compatible?

Oh wow, thank you for that link!
I called
Vonage
support and spoke to a representative who confirmed that my modem is compatible with the
Vonage
device. I have no idea how the other representative came to the conclusion that it's 1.0...Thank you for looking that up because I would've never known.
I spent a about 30 minutes on the phone with the rep while she adjusted settings and other stuff. Everything looked ok, however I just made a call and after 7 minutes it was dropped. The person called me back, the phone rang, but I couldn't hear anything on the other end. I have no clue what could be the issue here.
