Hi. I have a TTY and I look at some features such as Vonage V-Forecast and they only output voice and no TTY tones. This also includes voicemail and call return which I'd use in case I miss a call.

In order for those to work, those Call Return, Voicemail, and Vonage V-Forecast must be able to output TTY messages, so it would be great if Vonage could make it work for those with TTY--maybe provide an option to switch between voice and TTY.

I've already mentioned 711 dialing support to Vonage when e-mailing but AFAIK Vonage doesn't offer feature request, but without support for dialing 711, it's okay. I just have to dial a 1-800 number to dial the relay service and dial the voice number I want to call.

I hope Vonage can implement the TTY support really soon but I can wait.

I setup a poll to find out if anyone of you are deaf/hard-of-hearing/hearing impaired/speech impaired or not, but I do know most of you aren't (not to make an assumption, of course) which means I'll probably expect to see a higher percentage for "no" answer, so that's no big deal to me. Smile

Update:

Hmm...I'm the only one who are hearing impaired...

One important thing to note is:

Section 225 of the Communications Act, which was added by the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990, directs the Commission to ensure that telecommunications relay services (TRS) "are available, to the extent possible and in the most efficient manner," to individuals with hearing and speech disabilities in the United States. The provision further requires that TRS facilitate the ability of individuals with hearing or speech disabilities to communicate over the telecommunications network in a manner that is "functionally equivalent" to the ability of individuals who do not have such disabilities. A fundamental purpose of section 225 is to remove communication barriers within the nation's telecommunications network that have deprived individuals with hearing and speech disabilities of meaningful opportunities to participate in the economic and social mainstream of American life. Today's action by the Commission will be one more step toward making this network more usable by all Americans.
