I have patched my Linksys WRPT54G router's phone outlet through my Panasonic PBX office system - line #3. Everything seems fine, i.e., you can call in or out on any phone extension throughout my office as you would otherwise do with a CO line. However, whenever a call comes in on my Vonage number, the beacon light for line #3 flashes indicating an incoming call, but my phones never ring. Unless you just happen to be monitoring the phone itself for the beacon light, you would never know that someone is calling in on the Vonage line. Is there something I might do to rectify this problem? Thanks in advance!

First, try plugging a phone directly into the WRTP54G and seeing if it will ring. Then call tech support. If your test phone won't ring, tell them that. If it does, ask if they can turn up the ring voltage to maximum. They do have some control over that.

By the way, what firmware are you running on the WRTP54G?

No, I'm referring to the internal programming of the WRTP54G. If you plug a computer into the LAN side of the box and log on to the administration page, the firmware version is displayed in the upper right corner. Vonage can (and does) update this remotely, and different firmware versions have sometimes had ringer issues.

If the "beacon" light is flashing, then the PBX is receiving the call. I would look at the programming for Line #3 and verify that it is set to "ring". My gut feeling is that the ringing is programmed to not ring on Line #3. The ringing volume is set by the ringer power and programmng of the PBX. Vonage is sending the signal to the PBX correctly (you are seeing the beacon light flashing),

The ring voltage is already set to max on all devices from what I remember. The only way the can increase the voltage of the ring any further is to swap it to trapezoidal ring waveform instead of sinusoidal which will end up giving you a funny sounding ring. As said earlier though if your beacon light is flashing that is basically equivalent to the phone "ringing" and your PBX is seeing the right information from the Vonage device on an incoming call. Something is wrong from the PBX to your phone or with the PBX programming if you get no ring.
