Location: Philippines

ISP name and type: PLDT / DSL

Upload and download speeds: upload speed is 542Kbps and download speed is 429kbps, Quality of Service: 87%, Round Trip Time: 284ms, Max Pause: 297ms (http://www.wugnet.com/myspeed/speedtest.asp)

Modem make and mode: PL-DSL2

Type of Vonage adapter: Linksys RT31P2

Setup of Network: Modem ---> Router ----> PC

Issue you are experiencing:
PPPoE LCP negotiation failure over and over again.
There are times when PPPoE status says connected and the phone is online but will last for only 2 1/2 minutes and will disconnect itself.
PPPoe status will say connected then upon refresh will revert to disconnected and a pop up message of PPPoE LCP negotiation failed.
No problem with internet connection: directly to PC or through Vonage router.
Username and password is correct.
Phone line on Vonage router will flash green when phone is online.

Did you disable PPPoE on your computer or uninstall any PPPoE software your DSL provider gave you? It almost sounds like your computer may be trying to pass PPPoE auth information to the DSL modem and in the process disrupts your initial connection. Also, is this a new install or was this an existing working install that stopped working?

I'm currently using a freshly installed Windows XP Pro SP2

I have not yet established a PPPoE connection through Network Connections for modem ---> PC connection.

The PPPoE setup comes from the http://192.168.1.1/ router webpage.

I do not know if windows Xp has an PPPoE software installed aside from the Network connection setup suggested during windows setup.

Even if the computer is off, the phone still disconnects after a few minutes.

What device is this that you are connecting to? The LAN IP to access the RT31P2 is 192.168.15.1 not 1.1. Does your modem have a built in router, that may be what you are logging into. If you plug your computer into your DSL modem without any PPPoE settings do you get a connection?

Sorry its actually 192.168.15.1 not 1.1.
My modem does not have a buit in router.
If i plug my modem directly into the computer, i still need to establish a network connection through the create a new connection setup since i need to input the username and password.
