I just wanted to give kudos where due. I have a WRTP54G behind a WRT54G running Hyperwrt 2.1b1 + Thibor15c firmware. I have Comcast 8mb down with 768 up. For a year, Vonage has worked nearly perfectly for me. Recently I started having terrible static. If I rebooted the WRTP54G, the static would go away for several hours, but it always came back.

The first thing I did is call Vonage support. The guy I spoke with (who wasn't very easy to understand) tried 50 different things and said he sent a new Firmware. Again, the static was gone for several hours but then came back. So on this last Monday I sent an email to Vonage using the form on this site. The next day I received a response saying they sent some new settings and to reboot the WRTP54G and see what happened. The static was quieter, but still there. I sent another email the next day, and Vonage replied that they think my WRTP54G is defective and they will send me whatever Vonage adapter I want (PAP2, etc).

I couldn't ask for anything more from Vonage. They tried to fix the problem first, they couldn't, and so they are replacing the adapter. I just wanted to be one of the few to post a positive CS experience on here.

Now...does anybody have a recommendation for what adapter to get ?? Smile

When they said that they'd sent you any adapter you wanted, did they indicate that it would be free, even if amounted to an upgrade? Since you already have a primary wireless router, the D-link VTA is really all you need. However, if you can get whatever you want at no extra cost (reasonable, since your WRTP54G is about top of the line), I'd go with a VT2442. The D-link VWR is more or less the equivalent of what you had, but it doesn't have a good reputation at the moment (firmware issues).

I actually asked them what they would recommend. I told them all I want is flawless Voip. I will post here what they reply. I don't expect a response until tomorrow (that's been their MO).
