I'm sorry to hear that. Unfortunately (but inevitably), good Voip phone service is utterly dependent on quality broadband internet service.

Well, update. The cable has since been fixed, it works ok now and is doing good. I just tested it at 1.4M. But now the problem is the phone still doesnt work! I thought maybe it could be the router and tryed to directly connect the d-link vta to the modem and 95% of the time i call out its just blank, i cant even listen to messages. And incoming calls still dont work...do you think it could be the d-link vta? I've had this phone for almost 3 weeks and it has yet to work fully for a day....

A VTA with problems is always a possibility. What do the Voip test results look like now?

Your average round trip time is over a second and your losses and discards are very high. I'm afraid you still have a serious ISP issue.

Well, I can't deny that the latest results begin to look reasonable, but I'm still leery of your ISP, and you've already tried another adapter. If you can, take your adapter to a friend with a different broadband service. See how it works there. if it's good, then you know where the problem lies.

Also, please run a comparison test at www.testyourvoip.com (test call to Boston).

Well i know o one that has Vonage, so i guess i can't do that...but i doubt its broke, whats the chances of having 2 not working devices? lol But i did a test call to boston....and here is the results..

Test Failed

Your computer couldn't call our location. Here are some possible causes to consider:

* If you have a Voip Service, your VoIP/Phone Adaptor may have reserved the standard SIP port and is filtering out our SIP packets. Consider temporarily removing the Adaptor from your configuration and re-running the test.
* Your Personal Firewall, if you are using Windows XP, may be filtering the SIP port used for communication.
* Either your home firewall or your broadband provider's firewall is blocking the SIP port used for communication.

I know i have no firewall on, and the windows firewall is off aswell..

Your friend doesn't have to have Vonage. (S)he just has to have broadband. The idea is to verify that your Vonage box will work properly when connected to another broadband service. If it does, then you know that the problem is still with your ISP. If it doesn't, and the friend's service is different from yours, it raises a much stronger possibility that there is something going on with your Vonage adapter (even though it's the second one).
