Post subject: Record X-Pro phone conversations
I have to conduct a couple of phone interviews and make reports out of them. In order not to miss anything important, I would like to record the conversations. I am using
Vonage
with X-Pro SoftPhone. I know about Arcosoft's Vonalink (Von@Link) solution. Is there any other solution?

Since you have the SIP info, I assume that you can use any soft phone? If so, Counterpath free X-Lite 3.0 has built-in recording.

Post subject: X-Lite
I use Counterpath's X-Lite all the time with
Vonage
, record calls, and can even play audio files on my notebook speakers to play back recorded calls previously made.

Post subject: What's my SIP info
I'm hunting for a way to record calls off my
Vonage
softphone, as one of the main reasons I got it was to work remotely from my home office and I frequently need to record calls.
So, I know nothing! What's my SIP and how can I obtain it, so that I can use the Counterpath X-Lite softphone instead?

Post subject: X-lite Softphone Setup w/Vonage paid softphone service
In order to get the Counterpath X-Lite phone to work with
Vonage
, please do the following:
1) Click on the Down arrow (top of the X-Lite Phone) then click on SIP Accounts.
2) If you already tried to create an SIP account left click on it to highlight it, then click on Properties
3) For the "Display Name" enter the name you would like to appear in the "Name" field of the recipients Caller ID display
4) Enter your "User Name" as your full
Vonage
Softphone number (including the '1') IE: 19995551212
5) Enter your "Password" by copying and pasting from your
Vonage
account.
Vonage
uses a horrible font that make '1's
look like 'l's.
6) For "Authorization Name", again enter your full
Vonage
Soft Phone number.
7) For "Domain" enter: sphone.vopr.
vonage
.net:5060
8 ) Click to the checkbox next to "Register with Domain and receive incoming calls"
9) Click the radio button beside "Target Domain"
10) In the textbox entitled "Dialing Plan" enter: #1\a\a. T;match=1;prestrip=2;
Click on the tab above that says "Voicemail", then do the following:
1) Click on "Check for Voicemail"
2) In the textbox entitled "Number to dial or checking voicemail" enter: sip:*123@
vonage
.net
Click on the tab above that says "Topology"
1) Click on "Discover Global Address'
2) Click on "Discover Server"
3) Click on "Enable ICE.
4) "USE XTUNNELS" should be set to "Never"
Click tab above entitled "Presence"
1) "Mode" select "Peer-to-Peer"
2) "Poll Time" set to: 300 seconds4
3) "Refresh Interval" set to: 3600 seconds
Click on tab above entitled "Advanced"
1) "Register Every" set to: 3600 seconds
2) "Min. Time" set to: 20 seconds
3) "Max. Time" set to: 1800 seconds
4) Click on "Send SIP Keep-Alives"
5) Click on "Use rport"
Nothing else should be set, "Enable Session timers" unchecked
Session Timer Preference: None
This should get X-Lite phone working beautifully.
Regards & Happy Holidays

Thanks, Wild Bill!
I still can't get it going though, because I can't copy the
Vonage
password. Could you please provide more info on where I can obtain it to copy and paste into the the X-Lite phone's settings?

Post subject: Getting your Softphone password
You have to go to
www.
vonage
.com and login to your account.
At the Dashboard, click on FEATURES at the top of the screen.
Scroll down to the bottom left, you will see:
Vonage
Softphone.
Click on Manage Softphone Lines.
On the right side of the screen you will see Manage Your Softphone Lines.
a) Select your softphone number from the drop-down list, then
click on CONTINUE
b) On the next screen you will see your password.
c) Move your mouse over the left side of the password until the
ARROW becomes an 'I-Beam', hold down the left mouse button
while you move the mouse to the right to highlight the password.
d) On your browser click on EDIT/COPY
e) Open your X-Lite, go to the password section and paste,
by holding the CtrlKey and then pressing the 'V' key.
That will paste it for you.
Save your settings & everything should work for you.
Happy Holidays.

Wild Bill,
Calling out and recording works perfectly with the X-Lite configured as you instructed. But, I just discovered a problem with incoming calls--they default to the X-Pro software supplied by
Vonage
. How can I reconfigure things so that incoming calls default to X-Lite?

Post subject: disable x-pro
All you need to do is to disable X-Pro from starting when windows starts.
The X-Pro install default is to run X-Pro automatically when windows starts.
Merely clicking on the X only minimizes X-Pro. You must set the options to disable auto start, and if X-Pro is running close it completely.
Regards
