Post subject: Cisco router in front of VT2442
Has anyone connected their VT2442 to a Cisco 800 series router? I have an 871 and when the VT2442 is connected to 871 I get a lot of calls where there is no audio i.e. I can't hear them and they can't hear me. If I call them back everything works. I have done a static NAT translation for the VT2442 and permitted everything to that address. I have also tried it without any special configuration i.e. just plugged it into the 871. I have the INSPECT command on, but I have tried it without this command. Any help will be appreciated.

I also have an 871. However, I'm using a Linksys RTP300 instead of the Vtech device. It works just fine. I don't have any static nat translation or any other ports open for it to work.
Can you send me your "show run" and "show ver" from the 871 so I can take a look at your configuration?

I have a PAP2v2 sitting behind a Cisco 831. I suggest you do the following to help you troubleshoot further.
1. Remove your ACL's from your inbound and outbound interfaces (this is only momentary and you should remember to place it back later on)
2. Power cycle your phone adapter.
3. When it comes up and gives you dial-tone try putting your ACL's back in one at a time. Right then and there, you'll find out which one is the culprit.
4. One you loose tone again, on your CLI, issue the command "show access-list" and it will tell which line of the ACL is the problem...mostly a deny statement.
Just my two cents
