Cable Modem-> VT2442 (VOIP, PC w/printer) - > SRX400 wireless (laptop connects to).
I'm having trouble getting to my HP Printer from my laptop which as noted above is connected to the SRX400. The printer is shared and was working fine until I had to replace the RTP300 (died) with the VT2442.
I know that one solution would be to route my desktop with the printer attached over to the SRX400. However, I used to have this working just fine before but for the life of me I can't recall what I had to do to allow the connection between the two routers.
Thought I'd post to see if any of you (with more expertise than I)might suggest that I try.
BTW, both the SRX400 & VT2442 are working with Vonage with no problems. SRX400 has secured wireless access.
Thanks BigMike |

Actually I'm surprised that it worked with the RTP300 without routing the desktop over. Were you perhaps using some kind of bridge mode with the SRX400, i.e., RTP LAN port to SRX LAN port instead of RTP LAN port to SRX WAN port? |

After posting to this forum, I found a print out from another Vonage Voip forum I'd used in the past: "RTP300 + WGT654v2 Problem". http://www.vonage-forum.com/ftopic9950.html+wgt654v2[/web]
About the 6th post down, darin_n posted a solution where he referenced a web page link: Wireless Access Point FAQ -> http://www.dslreports.com/faq/11233.
I'm not a firewall engineer but I do recall this solution working for me in setting up the SRX400 just as a wireless access point. I don't recall having any issues with accessing the printer thru the WAP even though it is physically attached to my desktop PC and the RTP300.
If that process is creating a bridge, then I guess thats what I did.
Thanks for your post ! |

Yes, that's the sort of thing I had in mind. It should also work with the VT2442 in place of the RTP300. |
