Here is an interesting tidbit I will call it...It just started happening this morning...I picked up my phone to make a phone call and over the dial tone I could hear a conversation going on...almost like I had a party line...Low enough, but very clear....I was able to make my call(s) without any trouble and was just wondering if any one else has had this happen....Not annoying or bothersome but I found it interesting that this would happen over a Voip line...I am running the Linksys PAP2 adapter with a Belkin Wireless Router, Verizon DSL 3/768 Dynamic IP, if this helps.

Are you by chance using a cordless phone with your PAP? If so, it probably wasn't Vonage, it was crosstalk between them. If it was corded, you might having some sort of wiring issue, if you use house wiring. If you go straight into the PAP with a corded phone and no house wiring or cordless, then that's a wierd one.

I thought your post might be about a new Vonage feature, and I was all ready with my comeback of "Party Lines are SOOOO 1980's!" Very Happy

You're right, and so am I. You're talking about REAL telephone service party lines. I was talking about those cheezy numbers you call and talk to women with big hair, on those annoying commercials. Not that I know from personal experience, but I've been told it was usually 15-20 dudes, and like 2 women. Sounds like real fun! Not.

As for the issue, that IS wierd. I wonder if we could figure out where that could be coming from?

Considering Voip is all packets I wonder how one WOULD go about trying to figure out where it was coming from.....I don't get into the 1-976-xxxx numbers myself either..I don't even think you can call a 976 exchange or even a 1-900-xxx-xxxx number on Vonage, can you???

I don't think you can call any of those, but they get around it by using a 1-800 access sometimes. I think they're even illegal in some states now.

As for your issue, the only way I can see to start is to get a packet sniffer like Ethereal set up, and that PC/Laptop would have to site in between the router and PAP on a stupid hub. Then you could monitor the activity going to and fro and PAP.

Check your household wiring.. .it's acting like an antenna. As far as which station, go outside & look for the closest tower. Most likely is an AM station, but not always.

I am an amatuer radio operator and EVERYTHING is grounded in my house INCLUDING the house...lol, as it should be.....doesn't bother me that I have a radio station coming thru don't use that particular phone all the time anyway....just wondering if anyone has had this happen....Like I said it isn't so loud as to interfere with my calls so I am not going to worry about it til it gets worse. (knock on wood, that it doesn't)
