You do not need to port forward, especially since your router and phone adapter is one and the same. |

So do i have to register the MAC address of the box with my ISP
i went to the 192.168.15.1 and cloned my MAC addresss and it showed my sytem's MAC address not the RTP 300's MAC address..
Or should i ask them to open any ports...
Or any system services to be enabled..
last option is i have to change my ISP... |

Shandilya,
I understand that you are using a ethernet cable connection to connect internet.
1. There could be an automatic dialer that connects you to internet the moment you switch on the PC. You could see the icon on the system tray. 2. If my guess is correct then your ISP is using MAC address filtering and it will not allow you to connect thru a different PC or router. 3. Even if you are able to connect by bypassing the MAC address filtering(there is a way, I have done that), voice quality in Vonage will be very bad as per your bandwidth(64Kbps). You will get dial tone although. 4. Minimum bandwidth for Vonage is 128Kbps, but I would reccomend 256Kbps in India.
I will be more than glad to help you in setting up Vonage as I have been using one in Hyderabad. feel free to PM me at cutepsat@yahoo.co.in |

hi sandilya, Is SIFY giving u a modem, ask them if they support VoIP,and if they do then follow these steps. 1.connect ur computer to ethernet port 1 of linksys rtp300. 2.open IE browser and type 192.168.15.1 3.in setup page click on mac address clone. 4.click clone.save settings. 5.turn off rtp 300 and modem(if u have one) 6.turn ur modem first, wait a minute and then rtp300. 7.if u cannot open the 192 web address, then press and hold the reset button on the back of rtp300 for 30 seconds and try again. good luck! |

If you are able to connect to internet thru the router, then there is no problem in PC. Try to connect a diferent phone and/or to another RJ11 port in the adapter. I guess there could be some issue with voice settings in your adapter/router. |

What I guess is, there may be more than 1 RJ11 ports in the router and only one is active. you need to identify the corrrect port and connect. Also check if the phone that you are connecting is working with PSTN.

You need to copy your system's MAC address to your router's MAC address. i.e, your router's MAC adddress will temporarily change to the same as your PC. |
