First of all here is my setup info and Voip test results:

I'm in Kent OH
ISP - Time Warner Cable Modem
Download avg- 4.3M
Upload avg- 325kb
Cable Modem - Toshiba PCX1100
Vonage Adapter - PAP2
Network Setup - Cable into modem, ethernet to Linksys WRT54G router, ethernet from router to Vonage PAP2, also out of router to main computer and running a laptop on wireless
Voip test results:

I have only been a Vonage customer for about 2 weeks. Ever since I started using it, I have experienced intermittent delays when answering calls. When I pick up, I say "Hello" about 3 times before the person on the other end hears me and answers back. This does not happen on every call and it does not happen on outbound calls. I have read about similar problems elsewhere, but to this point, I have not found the reason why this happens or a fix for it. Otherwise, I am happy with the service.

Any advice would be appreciated.

When you say that it doesn't happen everytime, how frequent is it? You have 2 phone adapters, on which one do you experience the problem? After "saying 'Hello' about 3 times before the person on the other end hears me and answers back", would the line quality be all right from that point?

It is harder to troubleshoot cases wherein the problem is intermittent so might as well get all the information necessary before calling tech support. Cases like these often end with the problem not appearing while talking to tech then returns the moment you put down the phone.

The problem occurs about 1 out of every 3 calls or so. I only have one Vonage adapter, the PAP2. The router is not a Vonage adapter. It is Linksys's standard G nat router. Today, for the first time, I had the delay occur on an outgoing call also. I will probably call customer service soon.

I experience the problem on every inbound call. It's almost as though a voice connection isn't made until the adapter hears some noise from my end. Once I say hello for the first time I can hear background noise from the other caller. If I remind silent I hear nothing.

I called 1VONAGEHELP to see if they could help out. That was not a pleasant experience. I could barely understand the guy and after he checked my upload and download speeds, he told me he changed some things on my line. He also switched me from line 1 to line 2. After all that, my problems seem to have gotten worse. Now, I miss calls altogether. We hear the phone ring and try to answer it but no one is there. The person calling never hears us answer and the calls goes to voicemail or we miss the call altogether and it goes directly to my cell phone. This is getting very frustrating. I may cancel my service soon if I cannot get this resolved.
