Setup: Based on Installation guide.

BSNL(DSL) -->Netgear DG632(Modem Router)-> PC
Works fine able to connect to the Net.

BSNL(DSL) -->Netgear DG632(Modem Router)-->Vonage (VT8100)-> PC
NOT able to connect to Net and the Phone also does not work.

I get Green lights for WAN/LAN in VT8100.

But the the Ready Light on the VT8100 = RED STATIC.
Also not able to go to 192.168.15.1.

Please Advice.
Thanks

How is your computer configured for network operations, and what are the requirements for logging on to your internet service? Basically, your computer is probably configured for PPPoE with a password. If so, you'll need to set up the 8100 that way.

Likewise, by default the 8100 is set up for dynamic addressing on its LAN side and the computer probably isn't configured for that right now. That's why you can't log on to the 8100's admin page.

Before you do anything, check out the network setups of your computer and write everything down so that you can get back to where you started if you need to. Then configure the computer for dynamic addressing (DHCP). Then you should be able to get to the admin page on the phone to configure it properly.

Thanks for you response!

Yes the Internet needs Login and Password.

In the Start>Control Planel>Network Connections I have LAN and Broadband. I think the Broadband is used.
Please let me know how you set the DHCP.

Thanks

I'm not an expert, to put it mildly, when it comes to setting up computer network connections, and I don't know which Windows operating system you're using. However, on my XP system, I look under control panel>network connections and select the network card that has my broadband connection and double click it. Then I select properties on the general tab, and scroll down to internet protocol (TCP/IP). Select properties on that and you get to the screen where you select DHCP or static IP.

Don't forget to write everything down before you change anything.

hi

these is shaik by seeing you setup i think the netgear router has a fire wall and i think it blocking the udp signal ..so what u do is log on to the netgear router page and do a portforwarding
and the port no r
Ports used by Vonage Adapters

These are the ports that Vonage requires to be OPEN for successful use of the Vonage device (the ability to make and receive calls, download device profiles, firmware, etc). Under most circumstances these ports are already opened or allowed. The user must be careful to not inadvertently close them.

OUTGOING Ports

DNS: Port 53 UDP (Domain Name Server - for resolving server IP addresses)

TFTP: Ports 21, 69, 2400 UDP (for profile upgrades/downgrades)

HTTP: Port 80 UDP (for firmware upgrades/downgrades)

NTP: Port 123 UDP (Network Time Protocol - so the device can sync to the proper time for Caller ID)

SIP: Port 5061 UDP (used for older Vonage devices provisioned before 2005. Also, BSP Proxy Groups 1-8, and a.voncp.com communicate on port 5061.)

INCOMING and OUTGOING Ports

RTP (Voice) Traffic: Ports 10000-20000 UDP. When a call is made, a random port between 10000 and 20000 is used for RTP (Voice) traffic. If any of these ports are blocked, the customer may experience one way or no audio. (Please note that port forwarding will not resolve issues where the audio is getting through, but sounds poor.)

If you would like to read more about port forwarding, please visit www.portforward.com.

Hi Mr.samdip

Try The following

First thing

1. connect the computer to netgear
2. check whether able to go online
3. If you use windows XP operating system
-Click on "start"
-Click on "run"
-type in "CMD"
-Click "OK"
It will let you to a black screen

Type in "ipconfig" in that black screen and press ENTER

note the information and let me know that

Second thing:

1. Click on "start"
2. Click on "control Panel"
3. Click on "Network connection"
4. Right Click "Local area connection"
5. Click on "Properties"
6. Highlight "TCP/IP internet protocol" option
7. Click on "Properties"
8. Check what is the option selected

Let me know the results
