The main reason for this topic is strictly for the button presses. While on a call, frequently both parties will hear what sounds like button presses. I have other problems (delay) I have seen in other posts (http://www.vonage-forum.com/ftopic15661-0-asc-0.html). Here is my stats:
1. Location: Tampa, FL 2. Provider: Verizon FIOS 3. Upload/Download: 2Mbps/5Mbps 4. Modem: None (FIOS) 5. Device: WRT54GP2 6. Setup: FIOS --> Router/Adapter --> Wall Jack --> Phone 7. Issues: Button Presses; Delay in when caller can hear us and v.v. 8. Speed test statistics --------------------- Download speed: 5188168 bps Upload speed: 1863536 bps Quality of service: 99 % Download test type: socket Upload test type: socket Maximum download pause: 53 ms Average download pause: 6 ms Minimum round trip time to server: 41 ms Average round trip time to server: 42 ms

I have had the intermittant button press issue ever since I had Vonage... over 2 years.. |

Voip is a little different than regular telephone. One of the differences is that Voip frequently cannot carry DTMF tones properly, so Voip devices listen for DTMF tones and reproduce them on the remote side.
My mother's voice, and several people I conference with frequently, send out occasional sounds that my WRTP54G thinks are tones, so it reproduces them.
I think, hidden in the setup screens I cannot get to, there are sensitivity settings for tone regeneration. You may get someone on Vonage tech support to set your device to be less sensitive. I just got used to it.  |
