I tried explaining this to the vonage tech support, but they were confused. If I have a small business account with a phone line and a fax line and wanted to add a line, how do I say for example to have phone # 555-5555 ring in office 1 and 555-5556 ring in office 2?
Thanks,
Jim |

if your existing small business account is located in lets say office 1, that would mean you need to set up another line and get another adapter for that. Have it installed in office 2. These are 2 different locations, you then need 2 phone adapters. |

So, that I understand you.
My remote office is in one big building..Let's say the manager's room has # 555-5555 and my sales guy has # 555-5551. This can be done using the phone adapters?
Basically, If someone calls 555-5555 it rings on the manager's phone and not the sales guy. If Someone calls 555-5551, it rings on the sales phone and not the manager. I plan on expanding to 3-4 phone lines down the road... |

Sure, I ordered 3 phone lines. They each have their own phone number. What I am confused about is how vonage knows which telephone to ring when someone calls that users specific phone number. I think those 3 phone numbers is just like a virtual #. It will ring all the phones or am I confused? |

So, these phone adapters basically hold the information for the phone line? Basically, which # is associated to that adapter? |

yes, this can be done using the adapters. Say somebody dial's 5555, that will ring in the manager's office. Say the manager is busy, you can have have the call rolled over to the sales guy's office after a number of rings. Just activate the feature. And you can do the same set-up with the 5551 line.
Virtual phone numbers don't have a physical set-up. These numbers are linked to ur primary numbers. So for you to have vonage in your offices using different numbers, you need more than 1 adapters. |

vonage is quite different from a traditional phone co.
numbers are integrated on the adapter itself..so if u have adapter u can bring it anywhere having the same number still. |
