I've been using a Linksys RTP300 router for vonage service with no problems. I added a Linksys WRT54G wireless router and now I sometimes can't answer incoming calls (line goes dead). The "phone 1" light on the RTP300 goes out and I have no phone service for a few minutes before service is restored. Any ideas how to fix? Thanks. |

How do you have the network put together? Both of your routers are Linksys products with the same default subnets. You could have some sort of strange situation involving that if both have DHCP enabled. |

I have cable modem linked directly to the wireless router (the WRT54G) and the computer linked also directly to the wireless router. I have an ethernet cable plugged into one of the four ethernet jacks on the wrireless router and running to the internet jack of the VOIP router. The telephone cords are, of course, plugged into the VOIP router. How do I check if DHCP is enabled on both? Do I disable one of them? And thanks for the reply! |

The default setting for the RTP300 is for DHCP to be enabled. Assuming your computer is set up to get its address dynamically, just plug it into an ethernet port on the RTP300 and log on to the administration page of the RTP300. Rather than turning off DHCP on the RTP300, just change the address of its subnet from the default, 192.168.15.x if I remember correctly, to something like 192.168.18.x. The default logon is also the same as for your WRT.
However, I should have asked you whether you're using a 2.4 GHz cordless phone. If you are, interference between your phone and your wireless router could cause the symptoms you're having. If that's the situation, try things with a corded phone before worrying over router settings. |
