I just received the Motorola VT2442 Voice Gateway from Vonage. I have Verizon FIOS with and ActionTec MI424WR router. It appears that I can talk on the phone or be on the internet on my pc, but I can't do both at the same time. If I have a web page open and then pick up my phone, the phone works, but I appear to lose my internet connection. It won't work unless I unhook everything and go back to my original configuration and reboot the router. Can anyone walk through the settings with me or offer an alternative configuration?
FYI, Prior to signing up for Vonage, I had set my pc to a static IP in case it makes a difference.
Thanks in advance. |

Please give us the rest of the technical information listed in the sticky message at the top of the forum.
Are you using MAC cloning anywhere? Having more than one device on you network with the same apparent MAC can cause problems like this. |

Hi Steve, - Where is the sticky note message, sorry I don't see it. I did not specifically set up any MAC cloning, is there someplace I can check? |

What to post when having technical trouble with Vonage....
If you did not specifically set up any MAC cloning, then unless one of your devices is doing something it should be you aren't cloning and MAC's. |

Does anyone think I should do a ipconfig /release and get rid of the static ip? To be more specific of the issue: I tried the following configs: Internet->ActionTec Router->PC Motorola Device Disconnected Internet browsing on PC works fine
Internet->ActionTec Router->Motorola Device(Plugged into slot 1 on router)->PC Phone works, Can not browse on PC
Internet->ActionTec Router->Motorola Device( slot 1) & PC(slot 2) Phone works, Can not browse on PC

Problem Solved !! I called Vonage today and got everything working. I did end up doing an ipconfig /release and got rid of the ip settings I had set on the tcp/ip because my pc was still using the lan settings of when it was connected to the ActionTec Router. My power light was flashing every few seconds on the Vonage Motorola device. I was told to shut everything down, bring up the ActionTec Router first, wait until the internet light turns green, then boot up the Motorola device. It was still blinking so I did a hard reset by pushing in the reset button with a pen for 30 seconds. It then came on with a solid power light. I checked the phone and it worked. I booted up the pc, and it also could surf the internet now. |
