Post subject: Open network?
I have read in some places that when
vonage
ipo'd they were going to annoucement the open sip network? Did that ever happen? I was thinking not.
Also is the
vonage
softphone which uses the counterpath.net software x-lite etc is that a special client that comes pre programed and does not allow you to view the sip settings?
thanks!

I was also looking into interoperability with
vonage
and read elsewhere on the net that it's possible to dial a
vonage
user at:
sip:16175551212@sphone.vopr.
vonage
.net
(replace the phone number with the user's phone number; you might or might not need the sip: prefix) but ONLY if the user subscribes to the optional soft phone package. The
vonage
phone I am trying to call does not subscribe to this package so I can't test it out.
Anyone know how to SIP-dial a
Vonage
user that doesn't have the soft phone package?
