Morning, as the post guideline states, here is my setup;
1. location: DeBary, Florida
2. ISP name: Brighthouse / Cable
3. Ul/Dl: from what I read ul is 512/dl is 7mb
4. Modem: Motorolla VT2442-VD
5. Adapter Unsure what is meant by this one
6. Network Setup: I work for a NY company with a hardware firewall (A Juniper netscreen security client) My cable modem goes into the juniper untrust side. The trust side had 4 ports, one goes to an avaya IP hard phone. Another to a linksys wireless router and finally the Vonage device is also connected to that juniper client. He (the juniper) is my DHCP server so the Vonage is getting it's IP from him. I have 0 problems with quality on the avaya phone, so I know it's not a 'bandwith' issue, either a config with the motorolla, firmware upgrade or something.
7.Problems: Just poor send / recieve quality. I would say well more than 50% of the time you are either asking for a repeat or yelling into the phone as they say they can't hear you. I even call from my Vonage phone to that above avaya phone and do hear the poor quality.

Last question, is the newtork light based on traffic, as it's flashing on / off throughout the day, I would guess that, just want to check. Also, how can you get on this box to get firmware versions, update, etc.

I hope I did post the requirements asked for, any help to the poor QOS will be gratefully accepted as I keep getting in troubly by the Mrs with the "this was your idea", so I want to show her who really it boss (or at least think so!)

You QOS score is because your max pause is horribly high. For comparison, on my computer which is wirelessly connected to a WAP which is plugged into my VT2442 I get about 40ms pause, even lower when directly connected.

Code:
Max Pause: Max Pause is the longest pause recorded during the download speed test. This should be a very small number. If not, it could indicate Internet congestion or a bad Internet connection.


Can you plug your computer directly into the cable modem and re-run that same test? Also, can you plug your Vonage adapter directly into the cable modem and test to see if that eliminates any of your audio issue?

Also, your modem would be the device that is provided by Brighthouse Cable. The adapter would be your Voip telephone adapter, provided by Vonage, which for you is the Motorola VT2442.

As much as I didn't want to dismantly everyhing as the linksys is no dhcp / static for the VPN, etc. I did it to get this finally resolved and now I seem even more puzzled. Here are the 2 test results, I did one putting the Vonage device behind a linksys wrt54g wireless router and the 2nd test directly attached to the cable modem;

BTW, my bad on the 4 & 5, ... duh is all I can say! So with that, here are the results;

You have a high download pause both with and without the Vonage adapter in the setup, so the problem appear to be with your internet service provider. It might be instructive to run a comparison test at www.testyourvoip.com, but you're likely going to have to work this one with your ISP.
