One of the big one-day drops came on the news that "Citron reiterates Vonage spending plan." See

http://www.wallst.net/news/news.asp?Source=REUTERSNEWS&id=4022

So any cut in ad spending is coming in 2007, well after Vonage will have blown through most of its IPO money.

The link you posted is from June. The VON keynote was two weeks ago.

Quote:
Citron also said that Vonage no longer needs to spend inordinate amounts of its cash on marketing, because it has achieved its goal of establishing a national (or global) brand.

"You can walk into any room, do the 'Woo-Hoo' song and people know it's Vonage," Citron said.

Vonage alive and well, Citron says

[EDIT: Removed a significant amount of this post as argumentative and possibly in violation of the Vonage Stock rules.

I would like to remind others, as I have reminded myself, to read the rules, especially those that prohibit "calls to action" and require facts with posts.]

No, but they also didn't have quarterly losses of $74MM (and growing - up from $63.6MM the previous quarter)

Vonage doesn't use TCP/IP (generally speaking streaming media doesn't).

Isn't Voip inherently a peer-to-peer technology because of its use of?... TCP/IP... My router, I believe only speaks in Internet Protocol to my ISP, which in turn speaks to the Internet using, I suppose Internet Protocol as well. If you are really unlucky, and the person you are calling also uses Vonage, then you are in for the long IP ride.

Voip = Voice Over Internet Protocol ?

Um, there is more going on over the internet than TCP/IP. TCP/IP is one protocol - which you would be foolish to use for Voip. Voip typically uses RTP via UDP.

My point is, Vonage and other Voip mechanisms for the most part do not use TCP/IP, but UDP. TCP/IP as a protocol is not appropriate for streaming audio content, especially 'real-time' interactive content (i.e. phone conversations). Your post implied before that Vonage used TCP/IP for its streaming.
