Does anyone know if this router can be put in bridge mode? We've got 4 of these routers behind a cablemodem and have been having sound quality issues. I've read that if you put the Vonage router in front of everything else on the network it prioritizes better, so I wanted to do that. However, with the multiple router setup, I can see how it would get more complicated. Basically I just want the router to act as a switch instead of a router. I know this can be done on Linksys units (I've done that myself), but if it's possible on the Motorola vt2442 it's very well hidden IMHO. Any ideas? |

Have you try this?
1. Set the WAN to a static IP address that is different from your LAN. For example, if your LAN is 192.168.0.x. set the WAN IP to 192.168.10.1
2. Turn off DHCP.
3. Use only the LAN side jacks |

People have had success doing this with the VT2442. Turn off DHCP in the VT, plug an ethernet cable from the main router to a LAN port on the VT, and another from a LAN port on the VT to the WAN port on the VT.
You might want to look at this: http://www.vonage-forum.com/ftopic15938.html . Start near the bottom of the first page. |

So then in theory I could plug a switch into another LAN port on the VT2442 and plug other network devices into that? |

The cable from the WAN to the LAN port on the VT2442, that can be a straightthrough cable, it doesn't have to be a crossover, right?
I would hope that these routers were acceptably auto-sensing.. |
