I'm a new user to V-Phone (the USB dongle). Worked fine the first week. Suddenly, every time I try to make a call - the process "VonageTalkUSB.exe" takes up 99% of my CPU and seems to be making heavy disk access once I enter a number and press dial. So much so that my system becomes almost unstable, for example to select and click on anything takes about 2 minuites.

I've tried rebootings, other USB ports and using system restore to three earlier dates, including the date before I got the V-Phone.

I'm currently in Jordan and will be in the Middle east two more weeks. I've sent an email to Vonage customer service, but 24 hours later - no help.

IF anyone has any debugging suggtions, please let me know. I'm kind of stuck - you can email me directly at too if you know what to do.

i guess the first question would be, how much ram does your computer have?

Vonage Talk can be used with any PC supporting the following minimum configuration:

300 MHz Pentium-compatible processor or faster
Windows 98 SE or later (Windows 2000, Windows XP recommended)
USB port, version 1.1 or higher (V-Phone only)
Minimum RAM:
Windows 98 SE - 32 MB
Windows ME or 2000 - 128 MB
Windows XP - 256 MB
High-speed Broadband Internet access such as through a Cable or DSL modem

Note: Apple Macintosh and Linux operating systems are not currently supported.

These were the instructions received from Vonage - which solved my problem:

We understand from your email that you are experiencing difficulties
with V-phone device.

We request you try the following steps and reply with the results:

1. With the V-Phone inserted into the USB drive, click on Start -> My

2. The My Computer window will be displayed. Two new drives will
appear. One drive is labeled with the Vonage icon and the other is
labeled Removable Disk.

3. Select Tools -> Folder Options from the menu.

4. The Folder Options dialog box will be displayed. Click on the View
tab, and select the "Show hidden files and folders" radio button.

5. Click on the OK button. You will return to the My Computer window.
Double click on the Removable Disk drive.

6. The Removable Disk window will be displayed. Double click on the
Vonage folder.

7. The list of files in the Vonage folder will be displayed. Click on
the options file {Note: options.ini} and select File -> Delete from the menu.

8. The Confirm File Delete dialog box will be displayed. Click Yes.

9. Remove the V-Phone from the USB drive.

10. Re-insert the V-Phone. The problem should be resolved.

NOTE: The V-Phone may take slightly longer to initialize the first
time it is inserted after the options.ini file was deleted.
