This is different. I checked 933 this morning and it said I now have enhanced 911. Great, it's about time. So understanding there are no laws in my state or area I decided to do a test call.

It went straight to my local police department. Nothing came up on her computer. She asked if I was transfered after talking to someone else. I said no.

Prior to this I tested 911 and it was routed to a 911 center but of course they couldn't see who I was or where I live. This isn't any better.

What do I do?

No responses. I guess I'm the only one to experience this?

Anyway I contacted Vonage, got a trouble ticket number a call back and was told it would be corrected by end of the quarter. I asked what exactly that meant and the person said "end of the year."

Inbetween this time I was talking to Geauga County Emergency Services. They informed me that they were looking into it and if I was being informed that E911 was active either it was going to be active in 2 weeks or they would have to change the message I was getting from 933. They had also contacted Vonage and said representatives were very willing to be helpful and were looking into my situation. Apparently since I'm on the border between two phone companies this may be the problem as a bank near by also called and said they were having problems (a bank uses Vonage?). He mentioned the bank by name and it is close by my house and just opened recently.

The man I spoke with told me to check the message to see if it changes and actually give 911 a test call weekly and let him know what I was hearing. He said he would still remain in touch with Vonage and if they didn't comply with the E911 message he would contact the PUC and at that time warnings and fines would be issued which should get them on the ball.

Just thought this was information which my be of interest.

I recently changed our main line to Vonage. In the past few weeks prior to changing I've had to use 911. So while I was great to hear I had E911, I wanted to test it myself. I tested 911 using Vonage yesterday in Southern, NH where I live and they got all my info correct on their screen.

Sorry if this sounds stupid, but what is 933? Is it a phone number related to 911?

You can see if you have enhanced 911 by dialing 933. It is suppose to tell you if you are directed to a 911 routing center or if you have true enhanced 911.

I got a call today from Geauga County Emergency Services. They are going to proceed to notify the PUC that I'm still getting the e911 message which means Vonage is subject to fines at this point. The guy I spoke with is a great guy, he says the way Vonage has it set up for me at this time is just too dangerous. Currently they are rounting my calls to the regular police dispatchers line. He says they either need to route it back to the none e911 dispatch or do what they say they are doing.
