Hi all,
I recently upgraded to a NetGear CG814WG v2 Router, with my Vonage softphone account. The NetGear is all my ISP (BrightHouse/Road Runner) carries for wireless home networks.
When I call my PC via the softphone account, it doesn't work.
NetGear tech support sent me to a page that lists the ports which must be opened to cure the problem; at the top of this page is he following caveat.
"All NETGEAR router ports are closed by default to incoming traffic"
Worse, the page states that Vonage uses Ports 5060 - 5070, and, Ports 10000 - 25000.
Yikes!
At first, NetGear's tech's told me I had to "Open" the correct ports by using port forwarding, entering the same port # for each Start Port and End Port in the port forwarding config. section. However, a venerable and reliable member of this forum tells me this is probably not the answer, and neither is "Port triggering" which was NetGear's 2nd suggestion.
Can anyone help..?? |
