Vonage is sending me a Dlink VWR to replace my WRTP54G due to line noise problems. Since I use a separate WRT54G to handle my routing chores, should I be concerned about the incoming Dlink device that I only intend to use hardwired to phones? |

This situation with the DLINK VWR stinks something rotten! I just got mine a few days ago as a replacement to a previous router that went bad. Now I cannot save the DMZ setting because of bad firmware. As a workaround, I enabled virtual servers for port forwarding. Those settings stick for about 8-12 hours until the router locks up and I have to reboot it by yanking the power cable on it. When it comes back up, all the port forwarding settings are gone!
So basically what I have is a router that locks up and has to be reprogrammed 2 to 3 times a day. This is customer service at its finest to put out such a bug filled product as this. Oh yeah, and when the router locks up, it goes without saying that I lose internet access and my phone service in the house no longer works either. If it locks up while I'm at the office during the day (which is usually the case), I can no longer access my web, file, email, or FTP server any longer, not to mention my VPN. Email starts bouncing because my Exchange server is unavailable, etc. What a piece of crap router/company! Definitely not worth the $10 a month savings at this point compared to traditional phone service. |
