Post subject: DLink VTA-VR and splitter problems
Hello,
The past week has been a nightmare for me concerning
Vonage
. My wife hates the service right now and i can't figure out what is wrong. I recently upgraded from a PAP2 to a VTA-VR, with a splitter running directly connected to 1 phone and a phone line ran to the home outlet to use the other phones in the house. The problem that has surfaced the last week is when the phones are plugged into the splitter they don't work, the phone plugged directly into the splitter is very very faint. The other phones in the home don't work at all. If I remove the splitter from the loop the "local" phone works great.
A simple solution to me sounded like replacing the splitter. I did that last night but I get the same results.
Anybody have any ideas what is causing this?

It sounds like a possible short in the house wiring. Does the phone light on the VTA blink with all phones on the hook and the VTA plugged into the house wiring? Are you
absolutely certain
that the house wiring is disconnected from all external land lines?

Have you tried using the internal wiring without the splitter? If you have and the problem exists, there may be a problem with the internal wiring as Steve48 mentioned.
