I am a new Vonage user. I have it set up to forward all incoming calls to my cell phone as well as my wifes, service through verizon. When either myself or my wife dial the home number form our cell phones, the Vonage phone rings once, then our cell phones go to our verizon voicemail and it asks us for our password. Any idea why its doing this, or how to make it stop?

If you set up immediate call forwarding then the service is behaving 100% properly. You call your own number, and all three lines ring, the first one to answer gets the call. When you call from your cell phone it is immediately forwarded back to your cell phone and since you are dialing a call it will be busy and go right to your Verizon voicemail, which will be like calling your own number which logs you into the voicemail system and prompts you for your pin. The only way to disable this is to turn off simulring/call forwarding, that is simply how those features work. Alternatively, if you are not using simulring and simply call forwarding then just set the time until it is forwarded to something like 30 seconds so the phone will actually ring for those 30 seconds before sending you back to your voicemail.

Before Forwarding to

On the features page of your account, go to Configure button under the Call Forwarding feature. Click on the "Basic Call Forwarding" tab. Just select the number of seconds your V phone number will ring before forwarding to the other number. If you set it up for two phones then it's probably on SimuRing not basic Call Forwarding. SimuRing is OK too. But what you did was like trying to use a MaBell land line and call the number your dialing from. If you want to give someone at the house time to answer before forwarding put like 20 seconds on the delay, before forwarding to one number. You can add the second number as a SimuRing number But understand the cell will ring as soon as the home number rings. And if the time is longer than then cell phone vm pickup the cell vm will pickup before the fowarding happens. If you want to get the call before your wife then set yours as the SimuRing number. If you don't answer it goes to your wife through forwarding.

I just wanted to be able to make sure the calls made to the Vonage number ring thru to our cells if not answered. Is there any way to do that without it sending it to verizons voicemail? I had call forwarding set to 30 seconds, but I am guessing simulring overrides that.

Basically, I don't care if the phones ring simultaneously or if the calls are forwarded after 30 seconds, but i do want them to forward to both cells, is this possible?

Yes, simulring overrides call forwarding. This is no way to do this if you want both of your cell phones to ring as that would require simulring. If you can do with just one of the cellphone ringing then yes it can be done. Just turn off simulring and with the forwarding set to 30 seconds everything should work just as you want it.

And just how hard would it be to fix Simuring?? It is to me one of the best features of Vonage..

I don't know much about the Voip software but for some reason I have a feeling it is not much more involved that what I pseudo'd above. I know it is 'working as specified' but with my wife and I being everywhere, this feature is awesome! I actually have called the support and they have had LOTS of requests for this. Seems as though it doesn't matter as they haven't changed anything in well over a year.

This and Outbound CallerID..
