I have Sonicwall Tele3 which I use to VPN to my job. My concern is that if I configure this router to use for Vonage, will my VPN stop working? Will I have a hard time using Vonage if I use my router for VPN? Does anyone here have a router that they use to connect to their job (VPN)? |

It should work just fine, my question would be is this YOUR connection or does it belong to work. The company I would for would route all your traffic back thru the VPN to the office before deciding to send it to the internet via an ISA server. If it's encrypting all your traffic and sending none directly to the internet your going to add some unnecessary hops.
Here is my situation...
I have a Netscreen 5XT I use for 3 VPN's (I have control of this box), I tried tweaking the heck out of it to try and improve quality, I set prioritys, QOS for my Vonage and Packet8 box, neither worked well. I ended up putting the VOIP boxes on a switch (A Little cheesy linksys) between my cable modem and the router, let them DHCP an address from COX and it increased the call quality 20% not saying this is the best for everyone, but it worked well for me. |
