Hello. Ever since getting Vonage and setting up the port forwarding for Vonage (http://www.vonage.com/help.php?article=1098&category=) I am unable to use iChatAV and none of my online PS2 games work because they need overlapping ports. (ports 10,000+)
My Vonage setup: Cable > Cable Modem > Wireless Router > ethernet cable to Vonage phone adapter
My home network setup: Cable > Cable Modem > Wireless Router > computers/PS2
Is there anyway I can direct traffic to my PS2 and computers so I can get iChatAV, online games working at the same time as Vonage? |

Port forwarding is not required for Vonage, regardless of what they tell you. |

You shouldn't need to forward ports for PS2 online either. |

The vast majority of games don't require port forwarding, but some do. Like Madden and NCAA Football for example. |

You do need to use portforwarding when you have several devices on the network. The games that I want to play are the ones with the ports that conflict with vonage ports...thus the problem. |

From experience, I learned to disable DHCP Servers and configure manual IP address and Port Forwarding. Why? Because DHCP Servers DO fail!
I use nearly all Internet Chat & VoIP services, both on my Mac and on the Desktop PC, which is running Linux. Also, I have the Nokia 770 Linux-based Internet Terminal and Palm TX. Ports 135, 138, and 445 are firewalled at the router, since I am not using Microsoft software.
Here are the software that I use, frequently:
- iChatAV
- Skype
- Gizmo Project
- SightSpeed
- AOL Instant Messenger
- GoogleTalk
- Yahoo Messenger
- GAIM
I don't use MSN Messenger or Windows Live messages for security reasons.
The XBox is a Glorified PC, made into a Game Machine.
If you don't use Port Forwarding, every machine, connected to your router, that uses DHCP services, is suseptable to have intrusion issues.

Does a Vonage box require its own IP number? I have a connection to the Internet, but no more IPs available. Can I still use Vonage? Can I put it behind a NAT router and use a non-routable number for the Vonage box?
I am to be a new user if I can get this to work without an IP, can get both one phone and one fax to work in and out, and get voicemail to support me.
